When you arrive at a holiday flat in Dahab, a bag of groceries can bridge the gap between getting the keys and learning where to shop. The first order has a modest job. It should get everyone through tonight and breakfast tomorrow without leaving you with a fridge full of food on check-out day.
Build the basket around breakfast
Before ordering, ask your host what the kitchen already has. If there is a kettle but no hob, tea, bread, fruit and a small jar of jam will do more for breakfast than a carton of eggs. Add drinking water and something you can eat when you arrive. For a short stay, choose quantities you can finish or carry onward.
Arrange delivery after check-in
A booking may give you the name of a property while the rider needs the entrance you actually use. Once you have the keys, stand at the gate, check the map pin and note a visible feature, such as the painted door beside reception. Ask the shop whether it delivers there, what payment it accepts and when to expect the order.
Leave room to explore
Order the items you already know you will use. Tomorrow, when you can see what is within walking distance, you can choose your own produce or ask your host where they buy bread. Getting that first breakfast sorted gives you the morning to find your bearings.
